(SportsNetwork.com) - Home ice hasnt been much of an advantage for the Toronto Maple Leafs in recent meetings with the New York Rangers, but the Leafs hope to reverse that trend when they host their Original Six rivals on Saturday. Although Toronto has won the last two encounters with the Blueshirts, including a 6-3 win in New York on Oct. 12, the Rangers have claimed five of the past six battles at Air Canada Centre. The Maple Leafs are only 3-4-0 as the host this season, but will be glad to be home after going 0-1-1 on a recent two-game swing trip to Arizona and Colorado. Toronto was dealt a 3-2 setback by the Coyotes on Tuesday before dropping a 4-3 shootout decision Thursday against the Avalanche. Alex Tanguay scored the deciding marker in the third round of the shootout to defeat the Leafs. Toronto did well to earn a point, however, as Richard Paniks game-tying goal with 1:16 left in regulation pushed the game to overtime. Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel also scored goals for the Maple Leafs, who hope to avoid their first three-game skid since closing 2013-14 with four straight regulation losses. Kessel, who leads the Leafs with 18 points this season, had a goal and two assists in Torontos rout of the Rangers last month. The American winger has eight goals and 11 assists over 28 career games against New York. Jonathan Bernier suffered the loss against Colorado despite making 31 stops. It was a great effort tonight to get a point. We played really well in overtime, said Bernier. Toronto could use both Bernier and James Reimer in net this weekend. The Leafs also are in action Sunday in Ottawa. There was a scary moment in Thursdays tilt as Leafs forward Daniel Winnik was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Winnik absorbed a hit from Avs defenseman Jan Hejda and smacked the back of his head on the ice as the two players were tangled up. Winnik was not taken to a hospital and he could play in tonights game. Defenseman Jake Gardiner also left the game with a lower-body injury and is questionable for tonight. New York, meanwhile, will welcome Derek Stepan to the ice on Saturday, as the clubs top centerman expects to make his season debut. Stepan has missed the first 12 games of the season while recovering from a fractured fibula suffered during practice in late September. In 82 games last season, Stepan scored 17 goals and set career highs with 40 assists and 57 points. The 24-year-old pivot has registered a point in nine of his 14 career games against Toronto, posting two goals and nine assists. Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle also skated with the team Friday and could return next week after recovering from a broken hand he suffered in the season opener against St. Louis. Boyle, who signed as a free agent in July, was hurt while blocking a shot against the Blues. Like Toronto, the Blueshirts are also playing on both Saturday and Sunday, meaning backup Cam Talbot will start over Henrik Lundqvist tonight. Talbot has seen action in three games this season and made his second start of 2014-15 in Mondays shootout loss to St. Louis. Lundqvist will start Sundays game against Edmonton. Talbot relieved Lundqvist in this seasons earlier meeting versus the Leafs. New Yorks No. 1 netminder took the loss on Oct. 12 after yielding all six goals on just 24 shots. Talbot is 2-0 with a 0.80 GAA in his three games (two starts) against the Leafs. Lundqvist helped his club halt a two-game slide Wednesday against Detroit. Lundqvist made 25 saves in the 4-3 overtime win and Derick Brassard delivered the game-winning goal to help the Rangers close a four-game homestand with a 2-0-2 record. After Pavel Datsyuk went off for tripping, New Yorks Dan Girardi unleashed a blast from the point. Jonas Gustavsson made the initial save, but the rebound trickled across the crease to Brassard, who was present at the right side of the net to wrist it home for the win. We knew from the beginning we were facing a pretty good team playing some good hockey, but we found a way, said Brassard. We made some hockey plays there and it is what it is. In overtime, we had the chance to get it done. Martin St. Louis and Brassard finished with a goal and an assist apiece and Rick Nash and Lee Stempniak both scored for the Rangers. Nash has 10 goals this season, leaving him one shy of Anaheims Corey Perry for the league lead. The Brampton, Ontario native has notched five goals and six assists in 15 career games against Toronto. The Rangers, who are 2-2-0 as the guest this season, are on the road for one game before playing their next three at Madison Square Garden. دیدن لینک ها برای شما امکان پذیر نیست. لطفا ثبت نام کنید یا وارد حساب خود شوید تا بتوانید لینک ها را ببینید.

A childrens cancer emergency assistance fund designed to help families manage the difficulties that come with the diagnosis of cancer will be established. The fund honours Warrens late sister, Carolyn Elaine Warren-Knox, who died of brain cancer on Oct. 2. During his sisters long battle, Warren saw the challenges facing many cancer patients and their families throughout the care process.A diagnosis of cancer is extremely difficult to accept and work through, especially when it involves children, Warren said. Families should be able to focus entirely on the health and well-being of their child, and ideally not be burdened with the additional stress of financial issues. My sister often talked of the struggles facing cancer patients, especially children and their families, and how she wished she could help. As a family we hope this fund can make a positive impact. The fund will provide emergency financial assistance to pediatric families for patients with cancer and other related life-threating disease. With their incredible gift, our patients and families who may be facing financial challenges along with health challenges can focus on their care and healing, physician-in-chief Dr. Joseph Neglia of the University of Minnesota Masonic Childrens Hospital said of the Warrens.POTTY MOUTH: Rex Ryan would like to watch a football game without so much naughty language.Hear that, Tom Brady?Ryan, the New York Jets coach, feigned disbelief Wednesday while talking about how he checked out a few TV copies of the New England Patriots recent games in preparation for their meeting Sunday at MetLife Stadium. There was a frustrated Brady on the screen blurting profanities during the Patriots game against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 30.To be honest with you, I couldnt watch all of the game, said Ryan, trying to keep a straight face. I was offended by the language I saw.The TV broadcast caught Brady on the sideline, standing by himself, cursing repeatedly. Some viewers even contacted the Federal Communications Commission because of the not-so-family-friendly outburst.I was like, Wow, Ryan said sarcastically. Im thinking, Boy, that fine has to be really hefty because thats one, two, three, four, five of those bad boys, I think. So, Im not sure what that is, but I couldnt even get through the game.Ryan knows bad language when he sees it, of course. He has been twice fined for cursing at fans, and was docked $100,000 by the NFL earlier this season after he shouted an explettive while walking off the field after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers.dddddddddddd Ryan also said his fair share of expletives during the Jets appearance on HBOs Hard Knocks in 2010.But as far as anyone knows, Brady hasnt been fined for his foul mouth.Well, quite honestly, we dont know, Ryan said. He might very well have had to cut a check or two. Were not sure. Hey, we all know I shouldnt have done it. I recognize that.SEATTLE HANGOVER: There is quite the hangover the Seattle Seahawks are leaving with their opponents. Not only are the Seahawks on a roll, having won seven of their last eight games, but the teams they have played during that stretch are not recovering well.Starting with St. Louis, the past eight Seattle opponents have all lost the following week. That might just be a coincidence, but after reaching eight straight, that starts to become a trend.I think were a physical team and have a lot of physical people on the defence and physical on the offence, Seattle defensive end Michael Bennett said. There have been some good teams that Seahawks opponents have been asked to play a week later, too. Oakland was routed by Denver a week after getting beaten in Seattle. After beating the Seahawks at home, St. Louis had to go to Kansas City and lost 34-7.Philadelphia was stymied by the Seahawks, then lost control of the NFC East race by losing to Dallas. There were also games in which it appeared playing Seattle had a lasting effect. Carolina lost at home to New Orleans. Arizona was beaten at Atlanta. And both Kansas City and San Francisco lost to lowly Oakland.BAD COMMUNICATING: Roger Goodell has made a Top Ten list he could do without.Decker Communications 19th annual list of Top Ten Best and Worst Communicators of 2014 has such sports notables as Derek Jeter and Adam Silver on the best side. On the worst: Donald Sterling, Stephen A. Smith and Goodell. Why the NFL commissioner, who also was on the list in 2011 — the year the league locked out the players?Decker Communications found Goodell meek and ineffective, appears dismissive, disconnected and insincere rather than action-oriented or timely. As the face of the NFL, just as with any executive or leader at any company, every touch point matters. This year, Goodell blew it again, said Ben Decker, CEO of Decker Communications, a leading business communications training and consulting firm.In contrast, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver communicates with a strong point of view and bridges the needs of the owners with the desires of his fans. The full list is available at دیدن لینک ها برای شما امکان پذیر نیست. لطفا ثبت نام کنید یا وارد حساب خود شوید تا بتوانید لینک ها را ببینید.
